This case is an 18-year-old QH gelding used for trail and pleasure riding. He has always moved a little stiff upfront but is getting more reluctant to move forward off the owner’s leg. Recently she also noticed a really bad smell whenever picking out his feet.

The owner of an 8-year-old thoroughbred mare was having complaints of the horse not wanting to go forward and kicking out under saddle. The mares’ limbs palpated and flexed well, and the horse was sound while lunging, however, when a surcingle was applied the horse began taking small front steps.

An 11-year-old mare presented with difficulty girthing as well as intermittent colic episodes.

The owner of a 22-year-old thoroughbred gelding had observed that her horse had some behavioural and physical changes. The horse had received regular yearly dental care, and it was noted by the veterinarian that he was becoming uncomfortable during the procedure. Early on, when you lifted the lips of the horse’s mouth there were small red dots that were visible above the gum-line of some of his incisors as shown in the photographs below.
