Dr. Alejandra Garza - Caledon

Dr. Alejandra Garza obtained her veterinary degree from the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (UANL) in Monterrey, México in 2007. Right after graduation, she started as an equine practitioner completing multiple externships and two rotational internships in private practice. The first internship was at La Silla Equine Hospital in Monterrey, México and the second in Alamo Pintado Equine Medical Center in Santa Barbara, California.

In 2015, she completed a master’s program in Animal Science from the UANL with a research focus in equine musculoskeletal development and fracture repair of the equine hoof. In August 2015, she was granted a Fellowship in equine medicine in the University of California Davis where she obtained her diploma as a Junior Specialist in Equine Medicine and Field Service in 2017. In January 2018, she started a position as an associate professor in the UANL College of Veterinary Medicine teaching equine clinics, diagnostic imaging, and reproduction, while at the same time working in the Large Animal Teaching Hospital in the same school of veterinary medicine.

In April 2020, Dr. Garza started her own equine only ambulatory private practice in Monterrey Mexico where the caseload was about 50% internal medicine (emergencies, neonatology, ophthalmology, respiratory and preventive medicine) and the other 50% in sports medicine and rehabilitation.

Dr. Garza’s passion is equine medicine, practicing in this field for several years and having been trained with a high level of medical care in both private practice and academia with board-certified veterinarians has given her great experience. Dr. Garza enjoys providing supportive care to her patients and building strong relations with her clients.
