Melissa McKee, DVM

Dr. McKee grew up in the local horse industry. As well as coaching, training horses, and competing in many disciplines, she also worked in a saddlery and apprenticed with a local farrier. She competed to advanced level in 3-day eventing throughout the United States prior to attending veterinary school. After graduating, she traveled to New Jersey to work in a large equine referral hospital that provided surgical care, lameness, medicine, neonatology, emergency, and ambulatory practice. Dr. McKee’s interests include lameness, prepurchase, diagnostic imaging and racehorse practice.

Mike Pownall, DVM

Prior to becoming a veterinarian Dr. Pownall was a farrier for 7 years. Dr. Pownall worked with a farrier/veterinarian in the US with special intrests in lameness and hoof disorders. Upon returning to Canada he started his own business with a clientele consisting of Jumpers, 3-Day Eventers, Dressage, Pleasure Horses and hoof related lameness cases. He also passed the Certified Farrier test of the American Farriers Association. Currently, Dr. Pownall has a strong interest in lameness, dentistry and preventative health management. He also performs therapeutic /corrective farrier services.

Kristin Buchanan, DVM - Millbrook

Kristin graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2004. Following graduation, she completed an internship at the London Equine Hospital training in the areas of equine surgery, anesthesia, medicine, and radiology. She has been involved with horses for almost 20 years including training horses and competing in the Hunter discipline. Kristin started at Millbrook Equine Clinic as a co-op student during highschool and she joined the staff after completing her education. Kristin’s veterinary medicine interests include lameness, surgery and anesthesia, reproduction, and preventative health.

Michelle Courtemanche, DVM - Campbellville

Michelle graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph in 2005 and has completed a 1 year internship at Ledgewood Equine Veterinary Clinic near Rochester NY. She has been working with horses for almost 20 years, competing in the disciplines of dressage, eventing and pleasure driving. In the last 5 years she has become involved in breeding and showing Miniature Horses. In the field of veterinary medicine, Michelle enjoys ambulatory practice and sport horse medicine.

Lindsay Colwell, DVM - Millbrook

Lindsay maintains the very active lifestyle that she had established in her teenage years. She was the youngest member selected to the Canadian National 3 Day Event team in 1994 and 1996, a member of the Young Riders team in 1995, 1996 and was long listed to the 1996 Olympics 3 Day event team. Following her graduation from OVC in 2003 she joined the Millbrook team with a special focus in race horse (standardbred/quarter horse) lameness, and surgery. She continues her interests in 3 Day eventing as the Young Riders team veterinarian.

Elisha Dickinson, DVM - Millbrook

Elisha is a 2006 graduate of the Atlantic Veterinary College in Prince Edward Island. As a student, Elisha was active in the New Brunswick Standardbred industry in aspects of both sports medicine and reproduction. Following her degree, she completed an internship at an extensive equine referral and surgical centre in New Jersey. Elisha's veterinary medical interests are in lameness, reproduction, neonatology, and emergency medicine.

Maggie Turner, DVM - Newmarket

Following graduation from the Ontario Veterinary College Dr. Turner completed an internship at an ambulatory equine practice in New York State. Maggie has been an active 3-day event rider for the past 8 years and also enjoys fox hunting and dressage. In the field of veterinary medicine, Maggie enjoys lameness, dentistry and preventative medicine.
