Equine Herpes Myeloencephalopathy (EHM) Update

In an attempt to keep everyone updated on the West coast EHV outbreak, below is a list of some confirmed numbers of cases as of today from the state veterinarians:

California- 10 cases, all from Ogden, 1 euthanised.

Colorado- 2 confirmed cases, both were in Ogden; 6 exposed, and showing signs.

Idaho-2 horses from Ogden have died. 'Several others' are under treatment.

New Mexico- 2 suspects, both were in Ogden. Testing to be complete soon.

Oklahoma- Few horses suspected, tests complete; No horses in Oklahoma with disease.

Oregon- No diagnosed cases, no restriction of movement.

Texas-There are no cases in Texas. No restrictions on travel. No cancellation of horse events. No indication of spread outside of the horses who were in Ogden.

Washington- 1 case? few more? all were in Ogden. Numbers are unclear.
