FLUOROSCOPY If an x-ray can be considered a snap shot, then fluoroscopy is like a video. The fluoroscope offers a real-time x-ray image of the limb, giving us a 360 degree view of the bones and joints in the legs. This is a tool for identifying problems that may be missed on standard x-ray shots, and screening for abnormalities during lameness diagnosis. We can
also scan all four legs from the knees and stifles down to provide an
evaluation of the limbs for prepurchase examinations. We also use the
fluoroscope to guide difficult therapeutic injections such as those into
the navicular bursa and into stifle joint cysts. These examinations are
recorded both on video cassette and CD for storage and future reference. |
