Question: I have a horse that would be on and off lame but only slightly, then one day became consistently lame at the trot. Vet came in and did a nerve block and we came to the conclusion he had a sheared heel with soft tissue damage. Put on a bar shoe to help bring down side of the heel that was uneven, he pulled off the shoe after a week and was more lame then ever. We decided he also had an abscess, so soaking and poulticing began WEEKS ago, and still no change. Both vet and farrier think it going to blow out coronet area. The vet is coming in tomorrow to do partial blocks and then x ray. If not an abscess what could the other possibilities be?
