DIGITAL RADIOGRAPHY

We feature two digital radiography systems that offer clarity and detail on joint and bone images. Digital radiographs are a version of traditional x-rays, where the image is processed via computer in high resolution identifying subtle abnormalities.

The ITS system features a plate attached via cable to the computer processor. Each x-ray appears on the screen seconds after it is taken, and is stored digitally within the system. Images can be burned to CD or emailed to another veterinarian, as we often do for prepurchase examinations. This system is used at our haul-in facilities, and on farms in limited situations where a high number of images will be taken.

The Fuji system features resembles a traditional unit, in that several portable plates are used to take the x-rays images, which are then developed back at the office. The resulting image quality is identical to the ITS system, but far less fragile equipment needs to be transported to the farm. This is ideal when we just need a few shots of a specific area.
