Friday, August 28, 2009 Our nation's capital recently hosted many of Canada's best athletes at the National Capital Show Jumping Tournaments. The two week show featured a busy hunter and jumper schedule, including the exciting conclusion, the $75,000 Brookstreet Grand Prix. This high class event attracted horses and riders from the 2008 Silver Medal Olympic Team, and other noteables. Dr. Melanie Barham (from our Campbellville clinic) battled the heat in the first week as the on-site veterinarian, while I arrived just in time for the rain. Overall, I was very impressed by the professionalism of staff, finesse of the riders, and ability of the horses. I also had a great opportunity to meet many amazing horses, riders, and grooms. Congratulations to Yann Candele of Normandy Hills who conquered the intensely tough course on Pitareusa, and winning the Brookstreet Grand Prix on Sunday.
