Externship Opportunities with McKee-Pownall Equine Services
McKee Pownall offers externship programs to veterinary and veterinary technician students looking to gain more exposure to equine veterinary practice. Hands-on experience will be provided if the situation permits. However, there is an enormous amount of information to be gained by observation and exposure. Practitioners and technicians make every effort to explain cases and procedures whenever possible. McKee-Pownall Equine Services operates out of five primary locations, Campbellville, Niagara, Mohawk Racetrack, Newmarket, and Millbrook. Each facility has a slightly different focus, which is some combination of herd health/primary care, advanced lameness and imaging, hospitalized surgical and medical cases, reproduction, and racehorse specialties. Ambulatory services are also provided, and a summer facility is maintained at the Palgrave horse show grounds. Externship opportunities are available at all locations.
