Equine Veterinarian

McKee-Pownall Equine Services is looking for an equine veterinarian who has completed an internship or 3+ years of clinical equine practice to join the growing team at our new facility in Schomberg, Ontario.

About McKee-Pownall Equine Services

We are an innovative and progressive 13 doctor practice with 3 locations all within an hour of Toronto, Ontario.  Our primarily ambulatory practice includes the use of state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment and treatment options, including a standing Hallmarq MRI.

Our locations, clients and equipment are highly attractive, however, the best part of MPES is the team of talented and enthusiastic employees who can enjoy work-life balance while focusing on excellent client service and administrative support.  Mentorship for newer veterinarians is a priority. We are proud of the strong, distinct company culture that has been built over the last 15+ years, and we seek a new team member who share our goals and values.

About the Opportunity

This position is situated in the beautiful rolling countryside northwest of Toronto, housing our new Rehabilitation and Reproduction Facility as well as our ambulatory care team.  This facility is located in an area with a high mixed competitive equine population, which was home to the 2015 Pan Am Games Site at the Caledon Equestrian Park. Our clientele consists of sport horses (hunter/jumper, eventing, and dressage) as well as cherished pleasure horses with exceptional owners.

We are looking for an experienced equine veterinarian who seeks the opportunity to further develop our caseload of high quality equine sports medicine and reproduction while maintaining a fulfilling work-life balance within a supportive culture.  Your role would be primarily ambulatory, with shared involvement in the management of the in-house patients. Ideal candidates would have experience in reproductive and lameness services and therapies.  You are a confident professional with excellent communication skills who has a high level of self-awareness and a desire to be part of a collaborative team.  You understand that patient care is only part of your role and are able to build trusting relationships with horse owners and trainers by giving them peace of mind in their decisions about the health and wellness of their horses.

Our competitive compensation package includes above average salary; medical, dental, and life insurance and an Employee Assistance Program; a generous CE budget, and paid professional dues. Our veterinarians enjoy working a 4-day work week with a reasonable on-call schedule and the use of a well-supplied company vehicle while at work.
