Our summer students are heading back to school and we are now hiring for a multiple full time positions in the following locations:

Rehabilitation and Reproductive Facility - Schomberg
Full-Time Stable Hand
 
In this role, you will be responsible for general barn duties such as mucking, sweeping, feeding, turn out, hand walking, tacking and grazing horses. You may also be asked to assist veterinarians by holding, jogging, restraining and preparing horses for evaluation and/or treatment.

Hours for this position are 8am – 4pm and will involve both weekend and weekday hours. The exact schedule can be flexible depending on the candidate’s availability.

Horse knowledge and experience are essential for this role, and your horse handling skills will play a part in the hiring decision.  As part of our interview process, we will be conducting “working interviews” where your horse handling skills will be evaluated.

McKee-Pownall Equine Services – Newmarket
Customer Service Representative / Veterinary Assistant
 
In this role, you will spend 2-3 days per week as a Veterinary Assistant where you will be responsible for assisting veterinarians by holding, jogging, restraining and preparing horses for evaluation and/or treatment. You will also be responsible for setting up, preparing and maintaining diagnostic equipment.  You will assist in the stocking and upkeep of the clinic facilities as well as the veterinary vehicles. 

The other 2-3 days per week, you will be responsible for answering telephones, scheduling appointments, greeting in-clinic clients, processing invoices and providing administrative assistance as needed.

Excellent customer service skills, computer skills, and horse knowledge are vital to this role.

Part-time, weekend positions available at McKee-Pownall Equine Services’ newly renovated rehabilitation & reproduction facility located in the hills of Schomberg. 
Option for flexible schedule with respect to number of weekends worked per month and days worked per weekend. 
 
Duties include, but not limited to:
Assisting veterinarians with weekend treatments
Hand walking
Grooming and tacking up 
Mucking and barn chores
Feeding 
Turnout 
Administering oral, topical and eye medications 
Bandaging
 
The ideal candidate will be mature, able to work without supervision, have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license. Experience working with competitive show horses, Broodmares and Foals is required
